Lounge 101 is a commissioned interior design concept by Zero Gravity Design for a hotel bar and reception in Manchester. Set within a Grade II listed former office building, the scheme reworks a ground floor planned for circulation into one planned for dwell, bringing arrival, bar and lounge together in a single room.

The brief places the bar at the centre rather than beside the door. A hotel reception is a transaction and a bar is a destination, and the proposal lets both work without either undermining the other. The reception desk is treated as furniture rather than a barrier, and the bar is wrapped so there is no dead end to the seating.

Deep green panelling, warm timber and brass detailing establish a consistent identity across arrival, bar and lounge. A curved fluted bar with a stone counter sits against backlit arched niches, herringbone parquet runs through the social spaces, and a checkerboard marble floor marks the entrance. A backlit glass block wall carries light along the circulation route, and the retained period staircase stays visible from the door.
